Marina overview

Marina Travel Guide
The Singapore Marina Bay area sits to the east of downtown on the southern tip of the Island. Made entirely from reclaimed land the district is custom-designed to promote the modern gentrification of the country. The walk along the promenade from the mouth of the Singapore River affords fantastic and harbour city views and also takes in the famous Raffles Hotel, the home of the Singapore Sling. Probably the most hip and exciting upcoming Singapore suburb, Marina Bay more commonly refers to the region to the north of the river, where the nearly completed Marina Square and Marina Mall offer five-star retail therapy. The durian-like architectural centrepiece of the bay is the Esplanade, where the monstrous Suntec City shopping centre proudly lays claim to being Singapore’s largest, for now. A testament to modern development, expect the Marina to become the Casino capital of the country in the near future.
